1. BMW Motorrad all set to launch its first electric scooter in India.
BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler brand of BMW, is set to launch its first electric two-wheeler in India. The BMW CE 04 electric scooter will be launched in the country on 24 July. The stylish EV will come equipped with an 8.9 kWh battery, which gives a range of 130 km.
The CE 04 can accelerate from 0-50 km/hr in just 2.6 seconds and attain a top speed of 120 km/hr. Using a regular charger, it can be fully charged in 4 hours 20 minutes. With the optional fast charger, the charging time is reduced to 1 hour 40 minutes. Currently, BMW Motorrad India has not revealed the price. The CE 04 is already on sale in global markets.
2. Bharat Petroleum joins hands with electric scooter company Bounce Infinity.
Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) has joined hands with electric scooter manufacturer Bounce Infinity to boost EV adoption across India by launching Bounce retail stores at select BPCL petrol pumps. These ‘eDrive stores’ will be strategically located at BPCL petrol pumps to catch the attention of potential EV buyers. For the first time, people will be able to experience & purchase electric vehicles directly at petrol pumps. This initiative leverages BPCL's extensive network to convert select petrol pumps into EV hubs where customers can test ride & buy Bounce Infinity electric scooters.
The eDrive stores will be operated either by Bounce Infinity or by the BPCL dealer. Every store will feature EV charging points as well. Bounce will provide marketing support, manage inventory & give training to BPCL dealers running these retail stores.
3. Magenta Mobility opens new fleet facility & EV charging hub.
Magenta Mobility has opened a new office & a charging hub in Bhiwandi (Maharashtra). Maxson Lewis, CEO of Magenta Mobility, gave a statement: “Bhiwandi is an ideal location for Magenta Mobility due to its strategic location and strong connectivity to key markets such as Mumbai & Thane, as well as key ports. Bhiwandi's connectivity to the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway & the Western Express Highway is a major advantage.”
Initially, the company will have a fleet of 500 EVs (electric three & four-wheelers) at this facility. To support this, the company plans to hire around 200 local delivery partners to operate the EVs. Additionally, an EV charging hub will be established to charge the fleet.
4. Ather to set-up another manufacturing unit in Aurangabad (Maharashtra).
Ather Energy has finalized Aurangabad (Maharashtra) as the location of its next manufacturing unit. The facility will come up in 100 acres in Bidkin area of Aurangabad. It will be built in phases and is expected to cost around Rs 1000 crore. Ather currently manufactures its electric scooters and assembles its battery packs at its Hosur (Tamil Nadu) plant.
The company is also preparing for an IPO early next year.
5. Epsilon partners with Motovolt Mobility for discounted e-bikes for its employees.
Epsilon Group has joined hands with Motovolt Mobility to provide pollution-free mobility solutions to its employees in Vijayanagar, Bellary (Karnataka). E-bikes from Motovolt will be available at discounted prices to Epsilon's employees & their families in Epsilon's township located in Vijayanagar. This initiative focusses on promoting a clean mobility ecosystem for local commuting for Epsilon employees & their families.
Motovolt Mobility & Epsilon Carbon will offer subsidised plans to encourage the latter’s employees to purchase e-bikes to travel to work and for local commute.
