1. Simple Energy launches an upgraded version of the Simple One.

Simple Energy has launched the ‘Gen 1.5’ version of its flagship, the Simple One electric scooter. The upgraded version comes with a range of 248 km, an increase from the previous 212 km.

Apart from the improved range, the Simple One Gen 1.5 comes with multiple software upgrades as well. New features include remote access via app, turn-by-turn navigation on dash, updated ride modes, park assist, trip history & stats on dash, customizable dash themes, ‘Find My Vehicle’ function, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and auto brightness adjust. Despite these additions, Simple Energy has retained the previous pricing of Rs 1.66 lakh, which includes a 750W EV charger. The scooter comes with a 5kWh battery. The unique thing about this scooter is that it gets a removable battery (1.6kWh) & a fixed battery (3.4kWh), which together form the 5kWh battery pack. The removable one can be taken home and charged.

Ola Electric recently launched its 3rd generation of the S1 lineup. The top-spec model ‘S1 Pro+’ comes with a 5.3kWh battery with a claimed range of 320 km. Market experts say the upgraded variant of Simple One has been introduced to compete with Ola S1 Pro+.

2. Mahindra revamps showrooms as bookings start for the company’s electric SUVs.

Mahindra has announced a complete revamp of its dealership and service centre network. This big change comes as the company prepares to deliver its new electric SUVs.

The showrooms will have employees for home EV charger installation. The service centre network has also been upgraded, with dedicated service bays for EVs and new diagnostic capabilities. Mahindra has started accepting bookings for the BE 6 & XEV 9e electric SUVs.

3. Karnataka tops the chart with highest number of EV charging stations.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways have shared figures related to public EV charging stations in India. At present, there are 26,367 EV charging stations in the country, with Karnataka topping the chart with 5879 public EV charging stations. After Karnataka comes Maharashtra with 3842 stations. Uttar Pradesh comes third with 2113 stations, followed by Delhi (1951) and Tamil Nadu (1495).

4. Epsilon signs an agreement with Karnataka Government for EV battery manufacturing.

Epsilon Group (Epsilon Advanced Materials Pvt Ltd) has signed an agreement with the state government of Karnataka to invest Rs 15,350 crore in advanced battery materials manufacturing and R&D. The investment will be distributed across 3 divisions: (a) graphite anode manufacturing, (b) LFP cathode manufacturing and (c) battery R&D and testing.

Epsilon stated that this mega project will help domestic EV battery manufacturers achieve higher Domestic Value Addition (DVA) by means of locally-sourced graphite anodes & LFP cathodes. The company will ensure 100% DVA for anodes and 60% for cathodes. The project is expected to attract companies looking for a reliable, non-China-dependent supply chain.
