Benefits
Increase Property Value
A housing society with EV charging is more attractive to buyers and tenants, and gives current residents a strong reason to stay. If you're a resident wanting an EV, this is your case to bring to the managing committee.
Support Green Mobility
Charging stations reduce the society's collective carbon footprint and support residents by making the switch to electric vehicles, without straining shared infrastructure.
Generate Recurring Revenue for the RWA
Every charging session is billed automatically through the Kazam app, so the RWA earns a share of usage revenue with zero manual metering or reconciliation. Charging becomes an income line, not a shared cost.
Did You Know ?
Charging an EV draws significantly more current than a standard wall outlet is built for. Using a regular wall socket for regular EV charging, risks overheating, melting of the socket, tripping and even fire. Purpose-built charging stations are fitted with circuit breakers and differential switches designed to handle sustained high-load charging safely, which is why dedicated infrastructure and not a repurposed wall socket, is the standard for apartment buildings.

EV Setup Guide for Housing Societies
Charging an EV in a housing society works differently than at a standalone house—but it's more straightforward than most residents expect. Here's what's typically involved:
1. RWA approval
The managing committee reviews and approves charger installation, usually as part of a common infrastructure decision.
2. Site assessment
Kazam evaluates parking layout, existing electrical capacity, and DISCOM load availability.
3. Installation
Chargers are installed by Kazam's certified technicians, typically with 2 days of TAT since approval.
4. Billing setup
Each resident is onboarded to the Kazam app for individual usage tracking and automated billing—no shared 'honesty meter' or manual readings.
Nearly half of India's urban population lives in apartment buildings, and shared or no dedicated parking used to be the biggest blocker to EV adoption. That's no longer the case. Multi-user billing and app-based access now make collective housing one of the easiest places to install and manage EV chargers.

If charging an electric car is simple when you live in a house, it is a totally different scenario when you live in a society or an apartment. There are solutions whether you have a private parking space or not, and even if the electricity is not reaching your garage. Apartment buildings house slightly less than half of India's population. A type of accommodation that appears to make charging an electric car more difficult at first glance. Nonetheless, the lines have evolved significantly in a few years, and having a terminal in collective housing is no longer a pipe dream. Whatever your situation is, you have a good chance of benefiting from it.
