India now has hundreds of EV charging station companies, and they don't all do the same thing. Some make chargers, some run public charging networks, some build the software, and a few do all three. Before you compare names, decide what you actually need: hardware, a network to join, software to run your own chargers, or one partner for everything. Then judge companies on standards, safety, installation reach and after-sales service, not on a ranking.
The four types of EV charging companies in India
1. Charger manufacturers
They design and make the charging hardware: home wall chargers, commercial AC chargers and DC fast chargers. Examples include Delta Electronics, Exicom and Servotech. You buy from them when you want to own your chargers.
2. Charge point operators (CPOs)
They own and run public charging stations and earn from each session. Examples include Tata Power EZ Charge, Statiq and ChargeZone. You work with them if you want chargers on your site run by someone else, often in exchange for space or a revenue share.
3. Software platforms
They build the charging management software (CPMS) that runs chargers: access, billing, load management and monitoring. You need one if you operate chargers across sites. Our guide to EV charging management software explains what to look for.
4. Full-stack companies
They make chargers, build the software and handle installation and service. One partner covers hardware, software and support, which is simpler for homes, housing societies, offices and fleets that don't want to stitch vendors together. Kazam is a full-stack company.
What to compare between EV charging station companies
Standards and openness
• Do the chargers support OCPP, so they can run on other software later?
• Does the software support OCPI for roaming with other networks?
• How many charger brands does the software work with?
Safety and certification
• Which certifications do the chargers carry, such as ARAI or NABL testing?
• What protection is built in: residual current, earth monitoring, over and under voltage, surge?
• What is the IP rating for outdoor or open parking use?
Range of products
• Does the company cover what you need now and later: two-wheelers, cars, fleets, AC and DC?
• Can the same partner serve your home, office or society setup as needs grow?
Installation reach
• Does the company install in your city and pin code, or subcontract?
• Is a site survey, earthing check and load assessment included?
After-sales service
• What is the warranty, and what does it cover?
• How fast is on-site support, and is it available outside office hours?
• Is there remote monitoring that catches faults before you do?
Software and billing
• Can users authenticate and pay through an app?
• Is per-user billing available for shared chargers in societies and offices?
• Is load management built in, so you don't need an electrical upgrade?
Track record
• How many chargers does the company have in the field?
• Can it share named customers or case studies similar to your site?
Questions to ask before you sign
• Who owns the charger and the data after installation?
• What happens if the company stops supporting the product?
• Can I switch software provider without replacing the hardware?
• What is included in the quote, and what is extra (cabling, load upgrade, civil work)?
• Who do I call when a charger stops working, and how soon will someone arrive?

Frequently asked questions
Which are the top EV charging station companies in India?
It depends on what you need. Charger manufacturers, public network operators, software platforms and full-stack companies each lead in different areas. Compare them on standards, safety, installation reach and service.
What is the difference between a charger manufacturer and a charge point operator?
A manufacturer makes and sells chargers. A charge point operator owns or runs charging stations and earns from each charging session.
What certifications should an EV charger have in India?
Look for testing from recognised labs such as ARAI or NABL-accredited labs, along with protection for earth faults, voltage swings and surges.
Why does OCPP matter when choosing a charging company?
OCPP lets chargers and software from different companies work together, so you can change one without replacing the other.
Should I choose one company for chargers and software?
A single full-stack partner is simpler for homes, societies, offices and fleets. Larger operators sometimes mix vendors, which works as long as everything supports OCPP.
