1. BYD SEALION 7 launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

BYD India has launched the SEALION 7 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The electric coupe-SUV comes with an 82.5 kWh LFP Blade battery pack which gives a range of up to 567 km.

Prices of the SEALION 7 will be disclosed on 17 February 2025. However, bookings for the car are now open for a token amount of Rs 70,000, and its deliveries will start on March 7. The SEALION 7 joins the BYD SEAL, BYD ATTO 3 & BYD eMAX 7 in the company’s India lineup.

2. Honda launches the Activa e: & QC1 electric scooters.

Honda has officially launched its much-awaited Activa EV. Branded as the ‘Activa e:’, the electric scooter has been priced at Rs 1.17 lakh. The electric variant of Activa comes with dual 1.5 kWh swappable batteries, offering a range of 102km. It features Honda’s swappable battery tech. The company plans to set-up a widespread network of battery swapping stations to support this. Bengaluru already has around 85 battery swapping stations, ensuring a station within a 5 km radius in the city. At present, Honda Power Pack Energy India is working on expanding this network to Delhi & Mumbai. Bookings for the Honda Activa e: have begun at select dealerships in Bengaluru, Delhi & Mumbai, with deliveries set to begin in February 2025.

Along with the electric Activa, Honda also launched the more affordable QC1 electric scooter at the expo. The QC1 will feature a fixed 1.5 kWh battery which gives a range of 80km. It will come with a 330W EV charger, which can charge the battery from 0-80% in 4 hours 30 minutes, and from 0-100% in 6 hours 50 minutes. It has been priced at Rs 90,000. The scooter will initially be available in 6 cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad & Chandigarh. Deliveries will start in February.

3. An electric air taxi showcased at the expo.

Bengaluru-based startup Sarla Aviation, unveiled an electric air taxi ‘Shunya’, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Sarla Aviation states that the Shunya can be a game-changing solution for reducing travel times in congested cities.

The Shunya is on-course to India's 1st electric air taxi which is set to launch in Bengaluru by 2028, followed by launches in Mumbai, Delhi & Pune. According to the company, the Shunya air taxi is capable of carrying up to 6 people and payload of 680 kg. With a top speed of 250 km/hr, the air taxi is suitable for distances ranging from 20-30 km. Apart from passenger transport, the startup also plans to introduce air ambulance services for rapid medical responses in congested urban cities. Sarla Aviation recently secured a $10 million funding in a round led by global venture capital firm Accel, and prominent angel investors, including Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal & Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath.

4. VinFast showcases multiple EVs at the expo including the soon-to-be-launched VF7 & VF6.

VinFast created a lot of buzz at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The company showcased its two electric SUVs, the VF 7 & VF 6, that will be launched in the second half of 2025. The VinFast VF 7 will come with a 75.3 kWh battery which gives a range of 450 km.

The VinFast VF 6 sits below the VF 7. It will come with a 59.6 kWh battery which gives a range of 390 km.

Both SUVs are expected to be priced under Rs 30 lakh. At present, VinFast is in the process of appointing dealers across major cities in India. Apart from the VF7 & VF6, VinFast showcased multiple other electric cars such as the VF 3, VF e34, VF 8, VF 9 & VF Wild. Electric two-wheeler including the Evo200, Klara, Feliz, Vento, Theon electric scooters, and the DrgnFly electric bicycle were also showcased at the auto expo.

5. Hyundai launches the Creta Electric at prices starting Rs 17.99 lakh.

Hyundai India has launched the much-awaited Creta Electric at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The electric SUV will be offered in two battery options: 42 kWh (range: 390km) & 51.4 kWh (range: 473km). The Creta EV is based on the Creta N Line. Prices start at Rs 17.99 lakh.

As far as charging is concerned, the Hyundai Creta Electric can go from 10-80% charge in 58 minutes using a DC fast charger and 10-100% in 4 hours using an 11kW AC wallbox charger. The car’s charging port is located in the front, beneath the Hyundai logo in the centre.

Hyundai India also announced setting-up 600 DC EV charging stations across the country by 2032, out of which 50 have already been installed.
