1. Tata Motors showcases the upcoming Harrier EV in Pune.

Tata Motors has showcased the production-spec Harrier EV in Pune. The electric SUV looks similar to its ICE counterpart.

The Tata Harrier EV will come with features like a 12.3 inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25 inch driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, 7 airbags, 360 degree camera setup and 10 speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer.

The Tata Harrier EV was first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This time, the company showcased the car on a test track in Pune. The Harrier EV is expected to go on sale by mid-2025. Tata Motors hasn’t disclosed the battery specifications and pricing yet.

2. Nagpur to get 11 public EV charging stations.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has announced plans to develop an EV charging network in the city. Eleven locations have been identified for installing these charging stations under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. These locations are in high-traffic areas, and include public parking spaces & commercial complexes where vehicles are usually parked for longer periods. NMC has stated that the the EV charging stations will initially operate during the day, but charge point operators will have the option to extend hours based on demand.

The locations chosen by NMC are Jaitala Bazar Square, Rahate Colony Square, Dayanand Park in Jaripatka, Yashwant Stadium in Dhantoli, Futala Lake, Budhwari Bazar, Sakkardara, Shanti Nagar, Mangalwari Complex in Sadar (behind Anjuman College), Opposite Tuli Imperial Hotel (Central Bazar Road) and Ramdaspeth.

3. Ultraviolette extends the introductory offer for the Tesseract electric scooter.

Ultraviolette has extended the special introductory offer for the Tesseract from the first 10,000 vehicles to 50,000 vehicles. These will be delivered at the introductory price of Rs 1.20 lakh. The company announced that it has received over 20,000 pre-bookings for its new Tesseract electric scooter in less than 48 hours of its launch on March 5. After the 50,000 units, the Ultraviolette Tesseract will be sold for Rs 1.45 lakh. At present, the bookings are on for a token amount of Rs 999. The scooter can be booked online via Ultraviolette’s website or by visiting the company’s showrooms.

The Tesseract has been launched in three battery options: 3.5 kWh, 5 kWh, and 6 kWh. It can accelerate from 0-60 km/hr in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 125 km/hr.

Along with the Tesseract, Ultraviolette also launched the Shockwave electric motorcycle. The Ultraviolette Shockwave has been designed to look like a lightweight rally bike. It offers a range of 165 km, can accelerate from 0-60 km/hr in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 120 km/hr.

4. Work on an electric bus charging station begins in Pondicherry.

The Pondicherry government is planning a 100% transition to electric buses before the end of 2025. Work on the union territory’s first electric bus charging station is underway. EveyTrans, a subsidiary of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (Olectra Greentech), has bagged the supply order for 25 electric buses and has also started work on a 25,000 sq ft EV charging station in Pondicherry. The EV charging station will feature 6 high-capacity EV chargers. Each EV charger will simultaneously charge two in 45 minutes.

5. BYD Seal electric sedan wins ‘EV of the Year’ award in Japan.

The BYD Seal electric sedan has won the ‘EV of the year’ title in Japan.

A total of 15 electric cars were launched in Japan between November 2023 & October 2024. All these were eligible & nominated for the award. The BYD Seal topped the results with 195 points, followed by Honda N-VAN e: with 182 points and Hyundai IONIQ 5 N with 176 points.
