Serentica Renewables signs India’s 1st round-the-clock PPA with SECI.
Serentica Renewables, backed by global investment firm KKR, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 100 MW of round-the-clock renewable power. This marks India’s first-ever ‘load-following’ PPA, designed in coordination with SECI & state DISCOMs.
Under the agreement, Serentica will fulfill 80% of the required hourly demand each month, with load obligations ranging from 17 MW during low-demand hours to 100 MW during peak demand. To meet this unique requirement, the company will deploy a diversified technology mix of wind energy, solar energy and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group to invest Rs 3000 crore in Uttar Pradesh for a solar manufacturing hub.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group for allotment of 100 acres of land in Sector 8D (near Yamuna Expressway). The land will be used to establish an integrated solar ecosystem hub including a 3 GW solar cell manufacturing facility, a 60 MW captive solar & energy storage plant and ancillary units for frames, encapsulants and other process consumables. This is expected to bring substantial domestic value addition and decrease dependency on Chinese imports.
The project will feature advanced technologies such as TOPCon and Perovskite-Tandem cell systems. We talked about these cell systems in our previous edition here.
Avaada Group commissions 11 solar projects in Maharashtra for farmers.
These projects are being executed in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. They fall under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) and are designed to bring reliable, green energy directly to agricultural fields, supporting rural communities with clean power.
MSKVY focusses on solarizing agricultural feeders (power distribution lines that supply electricity to farms). The scheme aims to solarize 30% of them. These 11 solar projects are set to benefit around 15,000 farmers across nearly 170 villages by supplying sustainable energy for their farm operations.
GREW Solar showcases new PV modules at United States expo.
Solar PV module manufacturer GREW Solar, showcased its latest range of advanced PV modules at RE+ 2025, North America’s largest clean energy trade show. The company introduced the ‘All Black’ Series, designed for the US rooftop market, offering polished aesthetics and proven performance across extreme weather conditions. Manufactured at GREW’s facility in Dudu, Jaipur, each module undergoes over 25 in-house quality tests, including hail impact, mechanical load and environmental stress testing, ensuring durability. These modules will come with a 25-year warranty.
The unveiling at RE+ 2025 marks GREW Solar’s most significant entry into the North American market to date. The company’s modules meet strict US import standards to guarantee smooth market entry.
Following this, the company will showcase its complete product portfolio at Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025, the country’s premier clean energy exhibition.
Madhya Pradesh records lowest solar plus storage tariff.
Madhya Pradesh has secured India’s lowest-ever price for buying solar power, backed by battery storage, in a clean energy auction. Ceigall India & ACME Solar won the tenders to supply clean power to Madhya Pradesh at Rs 2.70 per kWh & Rs 2.764 per kWh, respectively. The lower price at which solar power can be supplied using battery storage could set a precedent for other states, showing that renewable energy with storage can be cheaper than coal.
The project has two units, each delivering 220 MW of power during daytime using solar panels, and in the evenings drawing power from batteries charged by solar energy. In the mornings, before the sun starts charging the panels, the units draw power from the same batteries, which have been recharged with cheaper night time electricity from the grid.
Key Takeaways:
India’s clean energy sector is advancing with key milestones: Serentica signed India’s 1st round-the-clock renewable PPA with SECI, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group will invest Rs 3000 crore in a 3 GW solar manufacturing hub in UP, and Avaada commissioned 11 solar projects benefiting 15,000 farmers in Maharashtra. GREW Solar entered the US market with advanced PV modules, while Madhya Pradesh achieved a record-low solar-plus-battery tariff of Rs 2.70/kWh, showcasing renewable energy’s edge over coal.
