1. Exicom acquires US-based EV charging company Tritium.
Gurugram-based NSE-listed EV charger manufacturer Exicom has acquired US-based DC fast charging technology company Tritium for Rs 310 crore ($37 million). Exicom stated that the company is in process of setting-up a manufacturing plant in Hyderabad where it will use Tritium’s DC fast-charging tech to develop EV chargers. Exicom’s Hyderabad plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
Nasdaq-listed Tritium designs & manufactures DC fast charger hardware & software for EVs. The company’s clientele consists of multinational brands like BP Pulse, ChargePoint, EV Connect, EVCS & Shell Recharge.
2. Servotech bags another order from Nashik municipal body for EV charging stations.
Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has placed a second order of 9 EV charging stations with Servotech Power Systems, increasing the total to 29. NMC had earlier placed an order to set-up 20 EV charging stations. Post the timely execution of the previous order, Servotech has received an additional work order from the Nashik municipal body.
In September, Servotech had bagged a contract from Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) to set-up 11 DC Fast EV charging stations in the city. The company will install 11 EV charging stations at RTO offices in Bengaluru.
3. BYD launches India’s first 7-seater electric car.
BYD has launched India’s 1st 7-seater electric car ‘BYD eMAX 7’. The new eMAX 7 is the facelifted version of the BYD e6. The updated version offers a more modern design, new features and an improved range.
Compared to the BYD e6, which was available in a single variant, the eMAX 7 is offered in two variants: Premium (55.4 kWh battery with a range of 420 km) & Superior (71.8 kWh battery with a range of 530 km).
The front of the BYD eMAX 7 features sleek LED headlamps and a grill similar to the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV. The 71.8 kWh battery variant supports DC fast charging up to 115 kW capacity and the 55.4 kWh variant supports fast charging up to 89 kW capacity. Both batteries also support AC charging up to 7 kW. Bookings for the new EV have started. Prices start at Rs 26.90 lakh.
4. Government launches Humsafar Policy focussing on essential facilities along the country’s highways.
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has launched the ‘Humsafar Policy’ which focusses on providing essential facilities such as toilets, baby care rooms, wheelchairs, EV charging stations, parking facilities, dormitory, etc along the country’s national highways. The Humsafar Policy will see the introduction of these facilities at petrol pumps along the highways. These services will be eco-friendly, and water conservation, soil conservation, waste recycling & solar power will be kept in mind while executing the policy.
While addressing the media, it was stated that existing facilities at restaurants, dhabas, petrol pumps, etc are not standardised, and there is ‘limited monitoring of the quality of services’. The new Humsafar Policy will ensure all existing & upcoming facilities are standardized to improve services for commuters.
5. Mahindra launches new cargo electric four-wheeler ZEO.
Mahindra has launched an electric four-wheeler cargo vehicle ZEO. The EV features a 21.3 kWh liquid-cooled battery which gives a range of 160 km. The ZEO’s top speed is 60 km/hr, and the vehicle has a payload capacity of 765 kg. At a DC fast EV charging station, the ZEO gets 100 km range in just 60 minutes of charging.
Prices start at Rs 7.52 lakh.
